Opening day in Aspen and Snowmass

About 800 people turned out for Aspen Mountain’s opening and about 1,500 schussed on Snowmass, according to rough estimates by the Aspen Skiing Co., which is using a brand new ticket scanning system and didn’t have precise numbers Thursday afternoon.

This new motor coach service offers transportation between Denver International Airport (DIA), Eagle/Vail and Aspen-Snowmass. Gray Line is offering VIP check-in at Gray Line's concierge facility at DIA and nonstop service to Aspen/Snowmass. Passengers are guaranteed window or aisle seats, GPS tracking, on-board entertainment and customized amenities.

Little Red School House to host first pumpkin patch

The fun takes place on Friday, from 3 p.m. until dusk, on Saturday, from noon until dusk, and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the park located adjacent to the school yard. That's where you'll find pumpkins of all shapes and sizes that can be picked through and carved up to prepare for the upcoming holiday.

The event is part of the Vasque and Gore Tex North American Trail Tour. The 13.3-mile race begins at 8:30 a.m. from the Snowmass Village.
Impressive encounter
Submitted by wendy on February 18, 2008 - 12:21pm. eventsWhile preparing my team of skiers for another day on the hill I was curious to see a couple walk past me and snap on their "skinny" skate skis. These two were obviously on a mission. Their skins were already mounted as they simply walked out to Fanny Hill, dropped their skis and prepared for their ascent. Since they were standing right next to me I couldn't help to overhear what the man said to his partner before starting off. "Ok last one." This peaked my curiosity even more and begged the question.
