Please note that there is no camping available in Snowmass Village. The following information is for camping in the surrounding area.

1. Reservations can be made for sites 1 - 26, 30, and 47 at Difficult Campground for $18/night and all sites at Silver Bar, Silver Bell, and Silver Queen Campgrounds, by calling the National Reservation Center at 1-877-444-6777 or on-line at recreation.gov. There is a $15 per day fee plus $10 entrance fee to enter the Maroon Bells Scenic area, and a one-time reservation fee, if reservations are made at the above campgrounds, and a 5-day stay limit. All other campgrounds are first-come, first-serve.

2. Check in/out time is 2:00 PM

3. There is a 6 person, two car limit per campsite.

4. Pets must be on a leash at all times while visiting campgrounds and within Wilderness Areas. The leash should not exceed 6 feet in length.

5. Camping is permitted in developed campgrounds and/or designated campsites only. Camping is prohibited within 1/4 mile of streams, lakes, and reservoirs. There is no camping in the Maroon Creek Valley, Castle Creek Valley, Independence Pass or Lincoln Creek area.

6. The Maroon Valley shuttle bus runs daily from middle of June through Labor Day and weekends through the rest of September. Maroon Creek Road is closed to thru traffic from 8:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. in conjunction with the shuttle bus. Those camping in developed sites in the Maroon Valley must purchase a 5 day vehicle pass ($10) to drive to their designated campground at the entrance station across from the Silver Bar Campground.

CAMPGROUNDS - FEE

DIFFICULT: Located 5 miles southeast of Aspen on Highway 82, there are 47 sites with limited spurs to accommodate trailers up to 40 feet. Water, dumpsters and vault toilets are provided. Located at an elevation of 8,180 feet, access to fishing and trails is available. There is a 5 - day stay limit with a fee of $18.00 per night. Difficult Campground has a large group site available on a reservation basis only. Maximum capacity is 50 people and there is a 5 - day stay limit. This site can be reserved by calling or e-mailing the above numbers, for the reservation service.

LINCOLN GULCH: Located 11 miles southeast of Aspen on Highway 82, then 1/2 mile on Lincoln Creek Road, has 7 sites with limited spurs to accommodate trailers up to 16 feet. Water, dumpsters and vault toilets are provided. This campground is located at an elevation of 9,600 feet and provides access to fishing and hiking trails. There is a 5 - day stay limit with a fee of $15.00 per night.

LOSTMAN: Located 14 1/2 miles southeast of Aspen on Highway 82 with 10 sites available with limited spurs for trailers up to 16 feet. Water, dumpsters and a vault toilet are provided. Lostman is located at an elevation of 10,500 feet with fishing access available. There is a stay limit of 5 - days with a fee of $15.00 per night.

SILVER BAR, SILVER BELL, AND SILVER QUEEN: Located 5 miles southwest of Aspen on Maroon Creek Road, Silver Bar Campground has 4 sites, Silver Bell Campground has 8 sites, and Silver Queen Campground has 6 sites. There is a stay limit of 5 days with a fee of $15.00 per night.

WELLER: Located 9 miles southeast of Aspen on Highway 82, there 11 sites with limited spurs to accommodate trailers up to 16 feet. Water and garbage disposal are provided. Weller is at an elevation of 9,400 feet with easy access to fishing and hiking trails. There is a 5 night stay limit with a fee of $15 per night.

PORTAL: Located 11 miles southeast of Aspen on Highway 82, then 7 miles on Lincoln Creek Road. Seven sites are available with limited spurs for trailers up to 16 feet. No water or garbage disposal is available. Visitors are asked to PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. Vault toilets are provided. At an elevation of 10,550 feet, access to fishing and hiking is available. There is a limit of 5 days with a fee of $10.00 per night.

CAMPGROUNDS - NO FEE:

LINCOLN CREEK DISPERSED: Located 11 miles southeast of Aspen along Lincoln Creek Road, just past Lincoln Gulch Campground. There are 22 designated campsites. No water, garbage or toilets are available. Visitors are asked to PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT. The elevation is 9,800 feet with access to fishing. There is a 14 day stay limit.
